Providing access to the legal system for low-income families and individuals
Thank you for visiting us! We are the volunteers of the Legal Aid Society of Door County, Inc. (LAS). LAS is a volunteer organization that connects qualified applicants with volunteer attorneys who provide legal counseling, assistance and representation without charge. Since 1989, LAS has provided services as a Wisconsin non-profit corporation. We are a 501(c) (3) non-stock, charitable corporation authorized to receive tax-deductible contributions.
If you need a lawyer and think you may qualify, you can find more about what the LAS can offer--and how to apply-- here.
LAS is an equal opportunity service provider. Our corporate charter says:
The operation of the Legal Aid Society, Inc. as a charitable institution for the purposes of rendering legal services to indigent people of Door County shall be conducted in all ways whatsoever, without regard to age, race, creed, color, handicap, marital status, sex or national origin, sexual orientation, arrest record or conviction record of the individual for whom services are being provided.
LAS does not provide legal services, nor does LAS employ attorneys to provide legal services to others. Legal Aid may be able to help some applicants find a volunteer attorney. Information on this website is not legal advice.
